Learn how a cartoon is developed and the creative process to develop a cartoon strip, panel or editorial cartoon. Create your own storyline and characters. Learn how to create illustrations for advertising, books and magazines. Each student receives a spec sheet for each assignment that can be completed in class or at home. Work at your own pace based on your ability. From start to finish you could be off on an exciting new career as a free-lance cartoonist or illustrator. Bring these supplies to class: 1 set colored markers, 1 black fine line marker, 1 black thick marker, #2 pencils and eraser, 16x20" Bristol tablet.

In class you will be able to make an assortment of items such as tree ornaments, flower pockets, personalized welcome signs, pot hangers, hand-formed figurines and more. Knitting is popular again, & we are providing you with a time & place to do it without interruptions. Come on out with your needles, your yarn, your patterns, & your questions, & we will knit the night away. If you are interested in doing the newest "felted knitting" or making knitted jewelry, these techniques will be covered in class. All welcome, beginners & seasoned knitters alike. First-timers will learn basic stitches & pattern reading & will need to bring $5.00 to cover cost of beginning supplies - payable in class to instructor. You will be creating three little daffodils completely by hand. They will be set in an oblong flower box that you will also construct and decorate. You will receive the recipe and instructions for making the clay so you can continue making flowers at home. Create the flowers in the first session and paint and assemble in the second. Bring to class: Towel or cloth to work on, bottle of Sobo glue, tiny sharp pointed scissors, tweezers, watercolors (Crayola paints are fine) and box to transport your creations. All other supplies provided by instructor.

In this two-night class, complete a slate wall hanging with a pumpkin and leaf groupings. This is a beginner project -- you will be using a multi-color brush load and learn to blend, shade, and highlight in one (brush) stroke. Bring to class: a #12 flat brush, a #16 flat brush, and a long liner script brush (available at AC Moore or Michael's in various brands - the Donna Dewberry brand works well). All other supplies provided by instructor for a $12 material fee, payable in class (includes slate, paint, etc).

Do you have a child who enjoys art and would like to experience working with clay? In class you and your child will learn to hand mold candleholders, a "bowl-in-a-bowl", charming flower pockets and holiday ornaments. Week one will be spent making your clay items, and week 2 will be spent painting and glazing your creations. Completed items may be picked up on 11/10 or 11/17. Grades K-6.

Transparent watercolor is the focus, which includes color, tone and composition. Creative ideas are explored, and different painting surfaces are introduced. Individual instruction is given.
