Beyond Recycling Basics
Course #416
Cost: $10
Instructor: Merv Zook, Craftsman
Thursday (1 Session) 11/13/2008 7:00-8:30PM Indian Valley Middle School - Room C-11

Did you know that the US makes up like 5% of the world's population but yet we are using 30% of the world's natural resources and thereby generating 30% of the world's waste? Merv will show you how you can reverse this trend through learning how to develop a recycling mindset and create recycling habits and systems that can work into your day-to-day routines. He will also discuss workplace recycling and composting, and address ways to recycle oddball items from batteries and throw-away cameras to oils and food wrappers as well as how to connect with people who would have plans to repurpose their use.

A NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) Certified Lead Carpenter, Merv has been a craftsman with GCR over the last 12 years. He blends his love of carpentry and sustainability in the work he does. Previously, Merv was a science teacher at Indian Valley Middle School for 27 years. Retiring from teaching has allowed Merv to reinforce his eco-friendly values as he is an avid recycler, composter, and organic gardener.
