THURSDAY EVENING BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP
Group meets the first Thursday of the month, October through May, from 7:00-8:30PM

Started in 1996, this meeting began as the "Books of the Century" discussion group with books chosen from the New York Public Library's Books of the Century exhibit & book. This group meets the first Thursday of the month, October through May, from 7:00-8:30PM at the IVPL. Participants are expected to read at least part of each book. Group is free, but call to register & receive a list of books - 215-723-9109x1.

SOCRATES CAFÉ - One Hour Plus, Informal Conversation
Groups meet the 1st Sunday of each month 1:30-3:00PM and the 3rd Tuesday of each month 10:00-11:30AM

Christopher Phillips, founder of Socrates Café, dreamed of dragging philosophy out of cobwebbed ivory towers & back into the streets or public places - where Socrates practiced the art. Discover unique philosophical perspectives & worldwide views as you lock hearts & minds with other people. The format is simple & gives everyone a chance to speak. It is fine to come & just listen. No registration needed! Ages 12 to 112 welcome!

COMPUTER BASICS AT THE INDIAN VALLEY PUBLIC LIBRARY

Do you want to be able to e-mail photos to friends and family? Does your job require that you use a computer, but you aren't quite comfortable with one? Ever wonder why the letters on a keyboard in such an odd order? The IVPL basic computer classes will walk you through the various parts of the computer - explaining everything along the way and giving you an opportunity to get comfortable using a computer in a friendly environment. GENEALOGY WORKSHOP SERIES

Do you have an interest in your family history? The Indian Valley Public Library has extensive resources to help you get your start, or continue your journey, in researching genealogy. There are a number of classes throughout the year to explain the basics of genealogical research, to introduce you to specific resources, and just show you what is out there. Even if you know what you are doing and are not interested in classes, they have some wonderful resource to explore Registration is required for each workshop - space is limited.
