Adventures in Art Fine Arts Workshops (For Students Completing Grades 1-3)
Cost for Non Day Campers: $65 (includes all supplies)

Talented & artistic students who enjoy utilizing many kinds of media will have the opportunity to create a wide assortment of art projects in this workshop. Projects will begin by using paper and pencil followed by markers, crayons and/or paint. Projects will also be made from cut paper. Several two-dimensional projects will be included in the workshop. Each workshop participant will receive their own art supply kit to take home.

AMERICAN GIRL WORKSHOP (For Children completing Grades 1-5)
Cost for Non Day Campers: $75 (includes all supplies, book & snacks)

If you are an American Girl Doll fan, you won't want to miss this workshop in which you will learn more about seven of the American Girl historical characters - Kaya, Felicity and Elizabeth, Kirsten, Josephina, and Molly and Emily. Each day of this five-day workshop will be spent discussing each girl and the life they lived, making crafts and completing worksheets, and participating in other fun activities related to each character. A daily snack is included. Each participant will take home an autographed copy of the 2008 book about Mia. You are welcome to bring your doll to the workshop. Don't delay in registering... this is bound to be a popular workshop!

One Day Booktalks
Cost for Non Day Campers: $30 for each booktalk (includes all supplies, book & snacks)
Day Camper Cost: $25 (includes all supplies, book & snacks)

A series of one-day book workshops in which our instructor will be bringing books alive with reading, activities, and discussion time. These presentations are designed to encourage children to read. Every participant will receive a beautiful, hard-bound copy of the book that is read. Your child is bound to go home excited about the new book and want to read more! Snack included.

  • George's Secret To The Universe

    Recommended for Children Completing 3rd-6th Grade
    If children love science and like to read, they will be able to take science into their own hands as this book unlocks the secrets of physics, time, the universe, and more. Excerpts will be read aloud and then the group will perform hands-on activities from the book. Each child will take home a new copy of this book, and receive a snack.

  • P is for Princess

    Recommended for Children Pre-K - Entering 2nd Grade
    Become a princess (or prince) for a morning as we read about princesses, princes, and royalty of the past and present. In this workshop our storyteller will read the book, and then children will make a royal crown. If children have a princess costume, (such as the Disney Princess outfits), they are welcome to wear them. Each child receives a hard-bound copy of this book and receives a snack.

  • Z is for ZEUS A Greek Mythology Alphabet

    Children will learn about Greek Mythology as we read exciting tales about the adventures of the Greek Gods. This is a fun way to learn who's who in Greek Mythology. Lego Robotics (For students entering grades 3-7)

The age of the future is now! Lego Robotics emphasizes creativity and problem solving as students use Lego building blocks and the computer to build and operate a robot. Each session meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday.

Lego Robotics - Beginner Level
Session 1: July 28-August 1, 9:00a.m.-12:00 noon at Oak Ridge
Session 2: July 28-August 1, 12:30p.m.-3:30p.m. at Oak Ridge

How would you like to learn to use Lego blocks to create and program your own robots? Join this beginner session, and through basic guided instruction you will complete a simple project in class.

Lego Robotics - Intermediate Level
(Student Must Have Taken a Beginner Lego Class)
Session 4: August 18-22, 12:30-3:30p.m. at West Broad
If you have experience with building a Lego robot, this class will take your robot building experience to the next level with the guidance of your instructor. This workshop will challenge and encourage your creativity, as you use your existing ability to build more complex robots.

Pottery for Children (For Children Ages 8-13 Years Old)

    Pottery Pick-up at Oak Ridge Day Camp July 29, 30, 31 (Between 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m.)
  • Session 2: August 4-8 1:00-3:30p.m. at West Broad Street
    Pottery Pick-up West Broad Street Elementary School August 19, 20, 21 (Between 12:00-4:00p.m.)
Children will learn to make hand-crafted pottery in this workshop. Instructors teach children how to work on a pottery wheel, do hand-building using the slab and coil techniques and how to paint and glaze their pieces. In class young potters will have the opportunity to make a bowl-in-a-bowl, flower pockets, thrown pots, items with pressed designs and more using white clay. Each Session has dates listed when parents can pick up the items made in class.

Summer Dance Workshop: Tap + Jazz + Ballet (For Children Completing Grades K-2 and 3-6)
Cost for Non Day Campers: $125 per 3-week session

Dance your way through summer vacation by learning tap, jazz, and ballet techniques. Children will master basic dance steps, then use these steps in creating several dance routines. Each workshop will be 3 weeks long and will meet daily for two hour lessons. Dancers should bring tap shoes & ballet shoes to class and can wear any type of dance attire for lessons. They will be asked to wear a black leotard with tan stockings for the recital. Additional costumes for the recital are included in the cost for lessons.

On the last day of lessons, there will be a recital for family and friends. On recital day, the AM & PM workshops will both meet in the morning for a combined recital. Parents should bring their child to the recital at 9:30 AM and there will be a "social hour with refreshments" for parents and guests until 10:30a.m. when the recital begins. Further recital details will be announced after you sign up.

Summer Stars!! A Two-Week Summer Theatre Workshop (For Children 7-12 Years Old)
Dates & Times: July 7-18, 9:15-11:45a.m.
Location: Vernfield Elementary School
Cost for Non Day Campers: $115
Day Camper Cost: $85

Aspiring young actors and actresses will be exposed to the art of musical theatre! Students will learn creative drama skills, correct vocal techniques, and how to design costumes, and make their own props and sets. Participants will learn a short musical theatre medley and the group will present a final performance (in costume) for parents, family, friends and day campers on July 18th at 10:00AM. Refreshments will be served to parents before show begins on 7/18.

Workshop meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday for 2 weeks.

YOUNG ARTIST'S TRI-"ART"-THLON
For Students Completing Grades 3-6
Cost for Non Day Campers: $70 (includes all supplies)
Day Camper Cost: $50 (includes all supplies)

If you are creative, you won't want to miss this fun afternoon of artistic adventures. The hours will fly by as you move from one art medium to another. Learn to paint in acrylics & watercolor, do block printing, draw, and work in pastels - a real "triathlon" of artistic endeavors! Each workshop participant will receive their own art supply kits to take home.
