District Announces Calendar Days That Will Not Be Used To Make Up Time Lost To Teachers' Strike - September 4th, 2008
Based on a "critical date" established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the teachers' strike in the Souderton Area School District must end on Tuesday, September 23. This means that teachers would return to the classroom on Wednesday, September 24, provided no settlement is reached prior to that time.
The district will have to make up the instructional days lost to the strike. Though the district administration is still working on revisions to the school calendar, parents can rest assured that the following days will not be used to make up time lost to the strike:
- Saturdays and Sundays
- November 27 (Thanksgiving) and November 28
- December 24, December 25 (Christmas) and December 26
- January 1 (New Year's Day) and January 2
- April 10 (Good Friday)
- May 25 (Memorial Day)
Final revisions to the school calendar will not become available until it is clear how many instructional days need to be made up. Parents will be kept informed of changes to the school calendar through the district Web site, www.soudertonsd.org.
